“Now these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the word, and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.” Mark 4:18-19.
Each time I read this scripture, another scripture comes to mind, “Serve God in the days of your youth”.
Listen, there is nothing as good as learning and practicing the thoughts of God early in life when your distractions are minimal.
Now I am not talking about crowding your life with church activities, I am talking about practicing your faith and learning all you can learn because as you grow in life, the pressure increases and if your faith is not yet established, you will have issues.
When you allow yourself get into real mess and then you begin to trust God, the word of God will come to you but will you really keep it? The cares of this world may not let you.
This is the reason Jesus said we should pray that God will not lead us into temptation.
Life by the day is getting more complicated. Everyone is seeking the easy route, so it takes great discipline to keep focus and you can only do that by keeping your eyes single on the word.
If you will truly focus on the word of God, learning to apply it, all those things will be added to you and the bible says “God’s blessing will make you rich and won’t add sorrow with it”.
That is an assurance that I can bank my life on God’s way. Refuse any form of distraction. If I cannot produce it by faith, then I shouldn’t have it. That should be your attitude.
Let me warn you, things may be slow but trust me, when it begins to pick up, you will go beyond all those who you thought had gone far ahead of you. That’s an assurance I am giving you.
So relax and keep your focus. Do not let anything else choke the word in you and you will begin to produce unending results.
May the Lord help us to keep focus on His word.
